How To Process And Obtain Duplicate RC Book Online?

Once you have received your Vehicle RC book from the concerned RTO conveniently but now you are in a state where your RC is lost then, follow below procedure to obtain duplicate RC book online again.

To get the registration certificate online, you will have to visit the integrated portal of Vahan for vehicle registration for the new RC book and you can also check your rc status online. In Vahan site, you can also do the renewal of RC, can apply for fitness certificate, and can also apply for the transfer of ownership if you sold or purchased old vehicle.

But there might be a case when you may lose your RC, mutilated, torn or used-up. If that happens to you, simply apply for a duplicate RC. Though it may be some time taking process but after completing the related documentation and following below steps, you will be able to receive your duplicate RC book online within time.

What Is The Process To Get A Duplicate RC Book?

Either you’ve lost your vehicle RC or somebody has stolen it from you, then it would be the nightmare for your to handle but worry not, you can apply for it again and can get your duplicate RC book online within time.

Just follow these simple steps to fasten the procedure-

1. The first thing you should do file an FIR in the nearest police station and get a copy of that FIR.
2. Download Form 26 for the duplicate RC book online and fill it
3. If the vehicle is on loan, then submit the form duly signed by the financier such as banks etc.
4. Submit Form 26 along with all the documents as given below and pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.

Documents Required For Duplicate RC

Following documents are required for the duplicate RC book online-

1. Copy of FIR.
2. Filled Application Form 26.
3. Tax payment copy of the last 4 quarters.
4. Valid Insurance certificate.
5. NOC from the financier such as bank etc.
6. Valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate.
7. Proof of address (may be required in some states)
8. Challan clearance from traffic police & Enforcement wing Transport Department in commercial vehicles (may be required in some states)
9. Tax clearance from Accounts Department in commercial vehicles (may be required in some states)
10. Attested copy of PAN Card or Form 60 & Form 61 (as applicable) (may be required in some states)
11. Chassis & Engine Pencil Print (may be required in some states)
12. Signature Identification of owner (may be required in some states)
13. Affidavit stating that RC is lost and has not been impounded (may be required in some states)

Steps To Get A Duplicate RC Book Online

Once you’ve collected and filled all the documents given above, follow below steps to obtain the duplicate RC book online-

1. Go to Vahan site and register as user or login into it by clicking on register or login links
2. On successfully login, Move your mouse over “Online Services” and select “Vehicle Related Services”.
3. Enter Registration Number, Chassis Number and Click on Generate OTP.
4. On registered mobile number, OTP will receive. Enter the OTP and Click on Submit Button
5. Select “Issue Of Duplicate RC” and click on “Submit”.
6. Click on “Issue Of Duplicate RC” under “Service Details” in Status block on the left. Fill in the Details and press Submit.
7. Click on “Insurance Details” under “Service Details” in Status block on the left. Fill in the details and press Submit button.
8. Click on DMS (Upload Docs) to upload the required documents. Press Select on choose the desired file to upload. Press ‘x’ button on top-right when you are done.
9. Click on “Appointment” under “Service Details” in Status block on the left to book a appointment. Select a date for which a slot is available. Then press “Book Now”.
10. Click on “Fee Details” under “Service Details” in Status block on the left. Click on Make Payment and Submit and proceed to pay the required amount online.
11. Select your payment gateway and accept the terms and conditions. Then press “Continue”.

Now print the receipt of payment, appointment date/time, and carry all the original documents to the concerned RTO on given date and time.
